Everything you need to get watching.
kTV is Kiran's personal streaming setup, built for friends and family. We're all sick of streaming services, so let's fuck them off!
It uses a program called Stremio to search for movies and TV shows across the internet via torrents โ files shared between users โ and fetches them from a cloud service for you to stream instantly. The end result looks and feels like any other streaming app: you search for something, press play, and it works. But this one has (virtually) all the content you could ask for in one place.
Kiran manages the configuration in the background, so you don't need to worry about any of that. Your login, your watch history, and your library are entirely your own. And Stremio has the features you'd expect from any streaming service โ Continue Watching, Next Episode, Subtitles and Audio in multiple languages, and the ability to pick your preferred quality.
Before you can log in, Kiran needs to create your account. Get in touch and ask them to set one up for you.
๐ Request a kTV accountOnce Kiran confirms your account is ready, your login details are:
%Hathaway2311#Great news โ getting going should barely take 5 minutes (cause Kiran did all the work for you).
Find your device below and tap it to jump to the installation steps. You will only have to do this once per device.
Use the Search icon (magnifying glass) to search for a movie or TV show by name
Click on the title to open it
Click Watch Now, or select an episode if it's a TV show
A list of stream options will appear โ in most cases just pick the first one and it will play
Click the + Library button on any title to save it. You'll find everything you've saved under the Library section in the sidebar. It will also keep track of what you're in the middle of watching, so you can pick up where you left off.
No problem โ go back and try the next option in the list. There should be a few options to choose from just in case.
Each stream shows a quality label. Here's what they mean:
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| 1080p | Full HD โ great quality, works on all TVs. This is the default and what most people will want. |
| 2160p | 4K Ultra HD โ sharper than 1080p, but only looks different on a 4K TV. Also uses more internet data. |
| 720p | HD โ lower quality than 1080p. Only appears if nothing better is available. |
The โก icon means the stream is cached โ it's already stored in the cloud and will play instantly. Streams without it aren't cached yet, which means it needs to download first before it can play. Niche or older content is more likely to be uncached. You can still try it, but expect to wait โ anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes depending on the file size.
The pool kTV is searching through is decidedly broad, so first make sure you have typed the name in correctly and you don't accidentally have any filters on (e.g. you want a movie but you're only searching shows). If that fails, contact Kiran โ there might be a way to manually add it. Failing that, you might be SOL.
Unfortunately not โ Stremio doesn't currently have built-in profile support, so watch history and Continue Watching are shared across anyone using the same account. It's something the Stremio team might add in the future.
Honestly? It's a grey area. Streaming copyrighted content without paying for it isn't strictly above board, but enforcement against individual users is essentially unheard of, particularly in Australia. Plus โ gestures meekly at the state of the world โ legality doesn't appear to mean a lot these days.
kTV is set up in a way that minimises any exposure, and in practice this is how a significant chunk of the internet watches content. Make of that what you will.
At a high level, kTV combines a few different services that work together seamlessly behind the scenes.
Where kTV searches
kTV searches across four of the largest torrent indexes on the internet simultaneously โ Torrentio, Comet, MediaFusion, and StremThru Torz. Between them, it's highly unlikely there's a piece of modern content that kTV can't find.
Torrents and debrid
When you search for something, kTV is searching across torrent indexes โ databases of files that people have shared across the internet. Rather than downloading those files directly (which is slow and requires a VPN), kTV uses a debrid service called TorBox. TorBox acts as a middleman: it downloads the torrent to its own high-speed servers, and then serves the file directly to you over a fast HTTPS connection. If TorBox has already downloaded that file for someone else before, it's instantly available โ this is what "cached" means. The โก icon you see next to streams means the file is already sitting on TorBox's servers ready to go.
AIOStreams
All four indexes would normally show their results separately and in no particular order. AIOStreams sits on top of all of them and acts as an aggregator โ it queries every index simultaneously, collects all the results, removes duplicates, and sorts everything according to set preferences (cached first, then by resolution, quality, and so on). What you see in Stremio is a single clean list, best results at the top.
Trakt
Each kTV user also has their own Trakt account, set up by Kiran during onboarding and connected to your Stremio account. Trakt is a separate service that tracks your watch history, maintains your Continue Watching, and generates personalised recommendations based on what you've watched. Because each person has their own individual Trakt login, your watch history and library are entirely separate from everyone else using kTV.
Stremio
Stremio is just the front end โ the app you interact with. It handles search, metadata (posters, descriptions, episode lists), your library, and playback. It doesn't care where the stream comes from, it just plays whatever URL it's given.
Have you tried?
Are you sure? Have you applied at least a minimal amount of critical thinking and/or problem solving and don't intend on just mindlessly punting the problem over the fence?
