01 📺 What is kTV?

kTV is Kiran's personal streaming setup, built for friends and family. It uses a program called Stremio to search for movies and TV shows across the internet via torrents — files shared between users — and resolves them through a cloud service that stores and delivers the media at high speed. The end result looks and feels like any other streaming app: you search for something, press play, and it works.

Kiran manages the configuration in the background, so you don't need to worry about any of that. Your login, your watch history, and your library are entirely your own. And Stremio has the features you'd expect from any streaming service — Continue Watching, Next Episode, Subtitles and Audio in multiple languages, and the ability to pick your preferred quality.

02 🔑 How Do I Get Access?

Step 1 — Get Kiran to set you up

Before you can log in, Kiran needs to create your account. Get in touch and ask them to set one up for you.

Once Kiran confirms your account is ready, your login details are:

03 📲 Install Stremio

Great news — getting going should barely take 5 minutes (cause Kiran did all the work for you).

04 🎬 How to Use Stremio

Finding something to watch

  1. Use the Search icon (magnifying glass) to search for a movie or TV show by name

  2. Click on the title to open it

  3. Click Watch Now, or select an episode if it's a TV show

  4. A list of stream options will appear — in most cases just pick the first one and it will play

Saving things to your library

Click the + Library button on any title to save it. You'll find everything you've saved under the Library section in the sidebar. It will also keep track of what you're in the middle of watching, so you can pick up where you left off.

05 💬 Common Questions

A stream isn't working or shows a strange message

No problem — go back and try the next option in the list. There should be a few options to choose from just in case.

What does the ⚡ lightning bolt icon mean?

The ⚡ icon means the stream is cached — it's already stored in the cloud and will play instantly. Streams without it aren't cached yet, which means it needs to download first before it can play. Niche or older content is more likely to be uncached. You can still try it, but expect to wait — anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes depending on the file size.

What do the quality labels mean?

Each stream shows a quality label. Here's what they mean:

Label What it means
1080p Full HD — great quality, works on all TVs. This is the default and what most people will want.
2160p 4K Ultra HD — sharper than 1080p, but only looks different on a 4K TV. Also uses more internet data.
720p HD — lower quality than 1080p. Only appears if nothing better is available.
The setup is configured to show 1080p results first. You don't need to change anything unless you specifically want 4K.
I'm searching for something and I can't find it

The pool kTV is searching through is decidedly broad, so first make sure you have typed the name in correctly and you don't accidentally have any filters on (e.g. you want a movie but you're only searching shows). If that fails, contact Kiran — there might be a way to manually add it. Failing that, you might be SOL.

Can my household share one account with multiple profiles, like Netflix?

Unfortunately not — Stremio doesn't currently have built-in profile support, so watch history and Continue Watching are shared across anyone using the same account. It's something the Stremio team might add in the future.

06 🔧 Installation Steps

📱 Android Phone

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your phone

  2. Tap the search bar at the top and type Stremio

  3. Tap on Stremio in the results (it has a purple logo)

  4. Tap Install and wait for it to download

  5. Once installed, tap Open

  6. Enter your email address and password, then tap Log In

🍎 iPhone

Apple is shit and accidentally broke the Stremio app in February, so for now it's a bit annoying to use on iPhones. Bear with it.

Step 1 — Install Outplayer

  1. Open the App Store and search for Outplayer

  2. Download and install it — it's free

Step 2 — Install Stremio as a web app

  1. Open Safari (must be Safari, not Chrome) and go to web.stremio.com

  2. Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the screen

  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add

  4. Open Stremio from your home screen

  5. Dismiss the "Streaming server is not available" warning — tap Don't show again

  6. Log in with your email and password

Step 3 — Set your video player

  1. In Stremio, tap the Settings icon

  2. Find Play in external player and change it to Outplayer

That's it — streams will open in Outplayer and play without issues.

📺 Android TV / Google TV

Includes: Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, and most non-Samsung/LG smart TVs.

  1. Press the Home button on your remote

  2. Navigate to the App Store or Google Play Store

  3. Search for Stremio

  4. Select Stremio and choose Install

  5. Once installed, open Stremio

  6. Select Log In. Stremio should show a QR code or a short activation code on screen. On your phone, either scan the QR code or go to stremio.com/activate and enter the code — hopefully no typing on the remote needed.

🍿 Apple TV

  1. From the Apple TV home screen, open the App Store

  2. Search for Stremio

  3. Select and install Stremio

  4. Open Stremio once installed

  5. Choose Log In. Stremio should show a QR code or a short activation code on screen. On your iPhone, either scan the QR code or go to stremio.com/activate and enter the code — hopefully no typing on the remote needed.

🖥️ Samsung Smart TV

  1. Press the Home button on your Samsung remote

  2. Navigate to the Apps section

  3. Select the Search icon and type Stremio

  4. Select Stremio from the results and choose Install

  5. Once installed, open Stremio from your Apps

  6. Select Log In. Stremio will show a QR code or an activation code on screen — on your phone, either scan the QR code or go to stremio.com/activate and enter the code. No typing on the remote needed.

Not finding Stremio? Older Samsung TVs may not have it in the store. Contact Kiran for alternatives.

  1. Press the Home button on your LG Magic Remote

  2. Navigate to the LG Content Store or Apps section

  3. Search for Stremio

  4. Select Stremio and choose Install

  5. Once installed, open Stremio

  6. Select Log In. Stremio will show a QR code or an activation code on screen — on your phone, either scan the QR code or go to stremio.com/activate and enter the code. No typing on the remote needed.

  1. Open a web browser and go to stremio.com/downloads

  2. Click Download for Windows

  3. Open the downloaded file and follow the install prompts

  4. Once installed, open Stremio from your Start Menu or Desktop

  5. Enter your email and password and click Log In

  1. Open a web browser and go to stremio.com/downloads

  2. Click Download for Mac

  3. Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag Stremio to your Applications folder
